2024-2025 Geiger PTSA Mission
To create & foster opportunities that enrich & support our children, teachers, & community.
Goals:
Continue to prioritize advocacy work for our students, parents, & teachers within the Geiger community.
Work to improve the level of community engagement & volunteerism with continued efforts toward increased diversification & a PTSA that is truly representative of our school community.
Provide multiple educational enrichment opportunities for Geiger students (e.g., field trips, assemblies, science/art programs, & community events.
Provide support to Geiger families in need via the Winter Wishes & food pantry.
Support Geiger staff via Montessori education, teacher stipends, volunteerism, staff appreciation events, & other means.
Enhance community connection through community events & transparent, timely, & relevant communications (e.g., financial transparency, website, general meetings, & social media).

Our next General Membership Meeting is on April 23rd at 6:30PM. We are meeting IN-PERSON in Geiger's "Da Vinci" room. Please join us! CHILDCARE & snacks are provided for the kids!!

Art / Science Night (Feb/Mar) – Event Chair – Annual Spring event – Chair decides theme; partners with the teachers to create a student product (science project, art project, etc.) to showcase. Flexibility with formatting & activities. Planning begins in January with event in late February/March.

Geiger Gardens Need HELP!
Date: ONGOING
As we welcome in 2025, it's time to refresh our Geiger garden beds. Geiger's gardens not only bring beauty to our school but also give our students a chance to learn about plants and nature. Our gardens are overseen by Ava Brock. She is looking for volunteers to help clean up the gardens & keep them neat and tidy all spring & into summer. Under the Sea Dinner Auction
Date: 3/8/25
The event was a huge success!! We enjoyed putting on a fun evening for the adults while raising funds that will allow us to invest in more experiences & events for our students & their families, along with training opportunities for the staff & assist with classroom needs!
We will share the grand total that we earned once we have all numbers sorted! Keep checking back!!
Thank you to every volunteer that was involved with this event. Words are not enough- but truly, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your commitment to Geiger Montessori & assisting the PTSA!
Family Movie Matinee!
Date: 2/22
Time: 2pm
Where: Geiger Auditorium
We hosted a free Geiger family movie matinee! It was not a drop-off event, parents/guardians were required to stay with their child(ren). Guests brought their own blankets & pillows to sit on. We provided chairs for the adults.
Concessions were provided; however, donations were greatly appreciated! This allows us to provide free snacks during future PTSA events.
ASB Family BINGO Night!
Friday, Jan. 31st, 6:30pm - 8pm
FREE FAMILY EVENT! Families came to play BINGO hosted by the Geiger ASB! Everyone had a blast & we had LOTS of fun prizes for the kids!

Winter Mixer Event!
Date: Dec. 18th
Time: 6:30PM
Where: 7 Seas Brewery- Tacoma
In lieu of our General Meeting, we had our Annual PTSA Winter Mixer Event for the entire family to enjoy!
Families from Geiger mingled & met with new & old friends! Treat yourself to a coffee from Naomi Joe & food & food from Canteen or outside food is also welcomed!
We loved having everyone who made it!
Trimester Break!
Date: Dec. 6th
While Geiger staff work hard to keep our school running smoothly & our teachers work to get our student's report cards put together, we get to enjoy a day off!

ASB's Barnyard Dance- 11/15
Where: Geiger Montessori
Time: 6:30pm - 8:00pm
The PTSA has partnered with ASB for a Barnyard school dance! Put on your boots & cowboy/cowgirl hats & join us for a free, fun family dance. All are welcome!
Popcorn, music, photo booth & lots of fun for the whole family. This is NOT a drop off event, so adults must accompany students.

Geiger Food Pantry- 10/7 thru 10/31
Where: Geiger Montessori
ASB run's the Geiger Montessori's "Food Bank Pantry" which benefits students from our school. Please consider donating to THIS week to help restock our pantry.
If you have a conference scheduled with your student's teacher this would be the perfect opportunity to bring those donated items to the school for drop off.

Book Fair- 10/14 thru 10/18

Our first Book Fair of the school year will be coming to Geiger Montessori!! We look forward to seeing all the kids & families visiting the event & finding amazing stories & book activities to get & take home!
Volunteers are needed for cashier/floating! There are LOT's of different time slots. Take a look to see if there is a ONE-Hour increment time slot you could help us out with!

Meet & Greet!
When: Thursday, September 5th

Geiger Montessori is hosting a Meet & Greet for our current & new families to drop off school supplies, meet the office staff, & meet your teacher! The PTSA will be there to help support our school & answer any questions you may have about our PTSA.
The PTSA will have Popcorn, Popsicles & Bubbles for each family to pick up AFTER touring the school. The PTSA also has invited Rhubarb from the Tacoma Rainier's! He'll be there to visit with you from 4:30pm-5:30pm.

Night At The Park

Where: Cheney Stadium
Geiger Montessori families got to have a FUN night at the Tacoma Rainiers baseball game!
Our home team WON the game & it ended with an amazing firework show for all to enjoy!!
Thank you all for your generosity in purchasing tickets for the Rainier's game on June 21st!
Scholastic Book Fair

The PTSA is hosting a low-key book fair in the Library next week. Because of the money we've earned in past fairs this year we are able to get a free book into the hands of each student - which is amazing! In addition, any/all purchases with eWallet, cash and card are all buy one get one (BOGO).

Orca Fun Run
When: Friday, May 31st
Where: Geiger Montessori Field
The Fun Run is Geiger Montessori PTSA's ONLY fundraiser that we do, so it is a very important event to help us raise funds to continue providing amazing events, experiences for our students & Geiger community along with additional training for our school's staff & classroom needs requested by the teachers.
Every student at Geiger is provided an Orca Fun Run T-Shirt to participate in the FUN RUN!! This was made possible by our generous sponsors that came in from LOCAL BUSINESSES!

It was a family fun-filled night with our fellow Orca's featuring the movie, Elemental!

Amy Lang's Birds & The Bees!

Become your kids' go-to birds & bees source!
Simple & effective tips & tools will be discussed at this seminar. Also, we invited our sister school, Bryant Montessori's parents/guardians to join us at our school's library for this event. Amy was a delight & made the atmosphere comfortable for all who attended in-person & via Zoom!

Harvest Fest '23
Thank you to the businesses who sponsored Harvest Fest '23, those who volunteered at the event & to those who supported by donating delicious treats at the bake & share table!! We also would like to thank each & every family who came to Harvest Fest '23 to have a fun & memorable evening!!
During the event this year, we gained 11 NEW PTSA members, we are so thankful & excited to have their voices be a part of our organization. In addition, to everyone who donated to our "Direct Ask"- Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! Continued support in every category from our Geiger Community is greatly appreciated & helps us continue to host events such as Harvest Fest, continued education for our teachers/staff, field trips, school assemblies, teacher/staff appreciation, & SO - SO much more!
